To fix follow the steps provided below:
1. Close both Outlook and the Salesforce for Outlook plug-in. To close the plug-in right click on the icon in your system tray and select 'Exit'
In Windows Vista and Windows 7
a. Go to the Start Menu
b. Enter %appdata% in the Search box and hit Enter
c. Open folders Salesforce.com | Salesforce for Outlook
d. Right click on the DB folder and delete
In Windows 8
a. Drag the Mouse pointer to the Right bottom corner of the screen
b. Click on the Search icon and type: %appdata%
c. Open folders Salesforce.com | Salesforce for Outlook
d. Right click on the DB folder and delete
2. First you will want to open Outlook. Once Outlook has finished loading you can launch your Salesforce for Outlook plug- in from your Programs in the Start Menu or by double clicking on the icon on Desktop.
3. Enter your Salesforce username and password. *Note* If you are not automatically logged in right click on the icon in your system tray and select the setting to login and launch the wizard.
4. Click “Allow”. This creates a secure connection between Outlook and Salesforce. You won't have to log in again unless you encounter an error. If you click Deny, you'll return to the previous step.
5. Click Next, and choose the folders you want to sync. You can use your default folders or click Change Folder and select or create a folder that's within your default folders or the main Mailbox folder.
6. Click the configuration link to see more details about how you're configured to sync.
7. If you want to include Private records select the appropriate checkbox(s) and click Save. Click Next, and then click Done.
Salesforce for Outlook will attempt to sync again.
